So it's no wonder that Law & Order: SVU actress Mariska Hargitay needed a little help to keep cool. Dressed in her heavy uniform as Detective Olivia Benson, the 46-year-old seemed to be enjoying the breeze as she fanned herself between scenes on location today.Hargitay was filming with Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is appearing as a guest star on the show. The 31-year-old Ghost Whisperer actress looked worse for wear as she strolled around the set, in ripped clothes and sporting fake cuts and bruises. Love Hewitt is playing a woman named Vicki who has been raped multiple times and is afraid to leave her house.
The show's executive producer Neal Baer said, 'One of the reasons we wanted to do this episode is because it addresses Mariska Hargitay’s passion for rape kits, which can helps gather evidence to convict the rapists.
Hargitay co-founded the Joyful Heart Foundation, a charity that supports women and children who are victims of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence. My Life On The D-List star Kathy Griffin appeared also made a guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU earlier this year. She was supposed to share a lesbian kiss with Hargitay but NBC, the network that airs the show, cut the scene after receiving complaints about potentially homophobic dialogue. Hargitay is the youngest child of actors Jane Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay. She was three years old when her mother was killed in a car crash in 1967. Hargitay and brothers Zoltan and Mickey Jr were in the backseat of the family car but escaped with minor injuries.
